GBT Wire Rope Compound

FOVAC® GBT Wire Rope Compound is a high-performance wire rope dressing specially designed to provide maximum corrosion protection and to lubricate the wire rope both internally and externally.

To reduce friction and avoid wear as the wire rope is flexed over pulleys and drums, it is essential to maintain a film of lubricant on the individual strands and on the core. Correct lubrication of the rope will also reduce wear on pulleys and drums.

The other principal cause of wire rope failure is corrosion. Unfortunately, the structure of wire ropes is corrosion-conducive due to the ability of water or other corrosive fluids to penetrate between the strands. To counteract this, it is essential to provide a protective film of corrosion-inhibiting lubricant throughout the rope structure.

FOVAC® GBT meets these requirements very efficiently, and its use enables the working lives of wire ropes to be increased substantially. It will penetrate to the very core of wire rope to ensure they are well lubricated and protected from corrosion, especially in harsh outdoor and ‘salty air’ environments at ports and docks.
